We’ve been on this earth for a very long time.
Of the 200 billion odd galaxies in the universe, our milky
way is just one,
There are around 400 billion planets in this galaxy, and the
earth is just one,
Of the 8.7 million species on earth, humans are just one,
And of the 22,500 parts* of time that earth has existed, we’ve
been here for just one.
Of all the species on this planet, the one responsible for
natural resources depletion is again just one.
What is depletion of natural resources?
Resource depletion is the consumption of a resource faster than it can be
replenished.
And we have achieved marvelous feats in the past 260 odd
years since the start of industrial revolution in 1760.
We mostly realize glaring truths when we get stuck.
Like the importance of empathy, blue skies and non-commercial
living in the past 12 odd days.
Is it really impossible to survive on this planet for the
next 260 years without exhausting resources here?
Crocodiles have been around for 205 million, mosquitos
for 80 million, lice for 44 million, moss for 470 million years. I doubt they
ever complained about having enough.
We consume far too much of far too many things,
While deriving true pleasure from nature, one which is
extremely exploited for these “far too many”.
It is time we realize the insignificance we offer this
world,
Our existence which is bloated by steroid-infested minds make
us feel big, bigger than the flower we’ve just pluck or the mosquito we’re
about to squash.
Well they’re smarter than us, it’s only apparent.
Life, as we know it, is changing around us every day, and it
will continue to do so.
We need to catch up with the times, and chose the right
things, because nature too is choosing what works and what doesn’t.
Think about it,
Are you growing nature or is nature growing you?
One who knows when to sow, also knows when to reap.
*(We’ve spent around 0.0002 billion years trying to live
here as compared to 4.5 billion years since this planet existed. A ratio of 1:
22500. i.e. we’ve been here only one part as compared to twenty-two thousand
five hundred total parts.)
1 million is 0.001 billion or 1/1000th of a
billion. 1 million is also equivalent to 10 lakhs or 10,00,000.
1 billion is also equivalent to 100 crores or
100,00,00,000.
